Professional Development

We believe that learning is a lifelong process. This is the philosophy we share with our students, so it is seems logical that the same applies to us. Our faculty and staff are our most important resource, so we support the development of these member of our learning community on an individual and institution-wide basis. Again, just as we differentiate for our students, we also differentiate the professional development needs of our staff.

A significant part of our professional development takes place through the application of best practices:

  • The ongoing review of our curriculum, assessment procedures and values
  • Collaborative practices where educators come together to make informed decisions, solve problems, align theory to practice
  • A focus on improving student outcomes by identifying and supporting student needs

Some of the professional development options available at Thalun are:

  • Internal development through co-planning, internal workshops, planning committees
  • Internal and external led workshops
  • Online training
  • Regional and international conferences and workshops
  • EARCOS regional workshops

Collaboration and Teams:

Divisional teams (lower elementary, upper elementary, secondary and specialist) meet on a weekly basis to review curriculum and assessments, or to discuss student support strategies.
