Welcome to Thalun International School!
My name is Ms. Maria Zenaida De Guzman (Ms. Mazen) and it is my pleasure to have your child in my first-grader classroom.
This is my 18th year of teaching! A large part of my teaching career has been spent outside of my home country, the Philippines, and it includes twelve years here in Myanmar.
I have taught mostly elementary classes. I taught Grade 1 at Quality School International (formerly Bishkek International School) in Kyrgyzstan, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 3 in the Philippines, and Grade 1 at Yangon Academy International School. Prior to Yangon Academy, I taught reading and speaking for intermediate and elementary Levels at the Lasallian Center and was a substitute teacher for Preschool, elementary and secondary levels at Yangon International School. I also took an active part in designing and developing curriculum in my previous job. I was the Thalun Elementary Learning leader for the 2018 – 2020 school year, and I’m happy to serve again as a leader this year.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, Certificate of Education from the University of the Philippines, Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate, and a Master of Education in International Teaching at SUNY Buffalo, N.Y., USA.
I am so excited to teach your child this school year.
