The Thalun Community Spirit
When speaking with Thalun parents, teachers and students about what made them come to Thalun as well as stay here, they frequently speak about the warmth of the community and sense of belonging and support they experience.
While this is in part a reflection of our size, and that everyone knows one another well, it also ties in with how we live one of our learner profile attributes; being a ‘constructive community member’. Cooperating closely with others to resolve challenges, and improve the quality of life of those close to us, as well as our world and future generations is a value that can be observed in many different ways at Thalun.

Community Service Projects
Friday English Library Initiative
Our most consistent community service project this year takes place every Friday, when students between the ages of grade 7 to grade 11 provides service to the local community by teaching English lessons to students in a local library. Working in larger and one-on-one groups, they teach basic English grammar, reading and writing to students who attend schools where this is either not available at all or only to a limited extent. This year long program was initiated with the help of our local township leadership, and also includes lessons for teachers at local schools.
Week Without Walls
Experiential Service Learning Journey
During our annual Week Without Walls experiential learning trip, we dedicated a section to service learning. This year, our secondary students partnered with the New Generation Youth Foundation (NGYF) to engage in meaningful activities with the children. These included English book reading, art, music, football, and other physical education games. Additionally, our students contributed to setting up a library project for NGYF, aiming to inspire a love for reading and highlight the importance of education. It was a rewarding experience that fostered connection, creativity, and community impact.
Taking Care of Our Environment
As global citizens, Thalun scholars actively engage in eco-preservation matrices to clean local spaces, minimize non-biodegradable usage blueprints, and foster ecological stewardship throughout Myanmar. Discover our official updates via the global platform.
