The Accreditation Process

When it is the school’s turn to study – Accreditation

 

လေ့လာသင်ယူခြင်းတွေ ပြုလုပ်ဖို့ ကျောင်းရဲ့အလှည့်ရောက်တဲ့အခါ – (Accreditation)ပညာရေးဆိုင်ရာ အသိအမှတ်ပြုခြင်း

There are probably very few members of our school community at this stage who have not heard mention of the accreditation process. Teachers and administrators who have worked with accredited schools accept the process as an ongoing part of their professional lives. 

 

ဤအဆင့်တွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ကျောင်းအသိုင်းအဝိုင်း၏ အဖွဲ့ဝင်များထဲမှ အနည်းငယ်သာ ပညာရေးဆိုင်ရာ အသိအမှတ်ပြုခြင်း လုပ်ငန်းစဉ်ကို မကြားဖူးသူများ ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါသည်။  အသိအမှတ်ပြုကျောင်းများနှင့်အတူအလုပ်လုပ်ခဲ့ကြသော ဆရာများနှင့် ရုံးပိုင်းဆိုင်ရာ ဝန်ထမ်းများသည် ဤလုပ်ငန်းစဉ်ကို သူတို့၏အသက်မွေးဝမ်းကျောင်းမှု၏တစ်စိတ်တစ်ပိုင်းအဖြစ်လက်ခံကြပါသည်။

 

For those of us that would like to know a little more about it, let’s look at the process and why it is so important for our school, community, and students.

What is accreditation? 

Accreditation ဆိုသည်မှာ..

 

Accreditation is when we measure ourselves using external standards established by professional agencies or organizations that specialize in schools. Let’s use the College Board and Advanced Placement (AP) or SAT testing as an example; applying for accreditation is in many ways like taking an AP or SAT exam. Yes, we are confident in what we are doing in our school, but to be sure we need to measure ourselves against an external benchmark. 

 

Accreditation ဆိုသည်မှာ ကျောင်းများအတွက်အထူးပြုထားသော ပရော်ဖက်ရှင်နယ်အေဂျင်စီများ သို့မဟုတ် အဖွဲ့အစည်းများမှတည်ထောင်ထားသော ပြင်ပစံနှုန်းများကို အသုံးပြု၍ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မိမိကိုယ်ကိုတိုင်းတာသည့်အချိန်ခါ ဖြစ်ပါသည်။  College Board အဖွဲ့နှင့် Advanced Placement (AP) သို့မဟုတ် SAT စစ်ဆေးခြင်းကို ဥပမာတစ်ခုအနေဖြင့်အသုံးပြုကြပါစို့။ အသိအမှတ်ပြုခြင်းအတွက်လျှောက်ထားခြင်းသည် AP သို့မဟုတ် SAT စာမေးပွဲဖြေခြင်းကဲ့သို့ နည်းလမ်းများစွာ ရှိပါသည်။ ဟုတ်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ကျောင်းတွင် လုပ်ကိုင်ဆောင်ရွက်မှုတွေကို ကိုယ်တိုင်ယုံကြည်စိတ်ချသော်လည်း၊ ပြင်ပစံနှုန်းများနှင့်မိမိကိုယ်ကိုတိုင်းတာခြင်းက ပိုသေချာစေပါသည်။

 

Accreditation agencies provide a framework for self-study and assessment and help schools to think about what they do, why they do it, and how to support students, teachers, and learning communities to grow and be successful. 

 

အသိအမှတ်ပြုအေဂျင်စီများသည် ကိုယ်တိုင်လေ့လာခြင်းနှင့် အကဲဖြတ်စစ်ဆေးခြင်းတို့အတွက် မူဘောင်တစ်ခုကို ပံ့ပိုးပေးပါသည်။ တဖန် ကျောင်းများအား ၎င်းတို့မည်သည့်ကိစ္စကိုလုပ်ဆောင်သည်၊ လုပ်ဆောင်ရသည့်ရည်ရွယ်ချက်နှင့်၊ ကျောင်းသား ဆရာ သင်ကြားရေးအသိုင်းအဝိုင်းများ ကြီးထွားအောင်မြင်စေရန် မည်ကဲ့သို့ပံ့ပိုးရမည် စသည်တို့ကို စဉ်းစားတွေးခေါ်နိုင်အောင်လည်း ကူညီပေးပါသည်။

Professional organizations such as WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), CIS (Council of International Schools), and the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) have professional standards, accreditation frameworks, and procedures that schools can use to apply for and complete the accreditation process. WASC currently accredits and supports school improvement in 5,026 schools and colleges worldwide, including well-known universities such as Stanford, Caltech, and Berkeley. WASC, CIS, and the IBO work widely with schools in Asia, North America, Europe, and Africa. 

 

WASC (အနောက်တိုင်းကျောင်းများနှင့်ကောလိပ်များဆိုင်ရာအဖွဲ့အစည်း)၊ CIS (အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာကျောင်းများကောင်စီ) နှင့် IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) ကဲ့သို့သော ကျွမ်းကျင်အဖွဲ့အစည်းများသည် ပညာရပ်ဆိုင်ရာစံချိန်စံညွှန်းများ၊ အသိအမှတ်ပြုမူဘောင်များနှင့်အသိအမှတ်ပြုခြင်းအတွက် ကျောင်းများ လျှောက်ထား၊ ပြီးမြောက်နိုင်သည့် လုပ်ထုံးလုပ်နည်းများရှိပါသည်။  WASC သည် လက်ရှိတွင် Stanford၊ Caltech နှင့် Berkeley စသည့်နာမည်ကြီးတက္ကသိုလ်များအပါအ ၀ င်  ကမ္ဘာတစ်ဝှမ်းရှိကျောင်းများနှင့်ကောလိပ်ပေါင်း ၅,၀၂၆ တွင် ကျောင်း၏တိုးတက်မှုကိုအသိအမှတ်ပြုပြီးထောက်ခံပေးထားပါသည်။ WASC၊ CIS နှင့် IBO တို့သည်အာရှ၊ မြောက်အမေရိက၊ ဥရောပနှင့်အာဖရိကရှိကျောင်းများနှင့်ကျယ်ကျယ်ပြန့်ပြန့်အလုပ်လုပ်ကြသည်။

 

How does the process work?

Schools that apply to WASC or CIS have to meet the standards set by these organizations and if they are successful they become accredited. After the application, an inspection team made up of experienced educators and administrators (appointed by WASC or CIS) visits the school and does an inspection based on the framework. If the inspection is successful they award the school Candidacy status (in the case of WASC). The even bigger task starts then with the full self-study, which can take up to 3 years. The school has to look closely at everything it does, based on a detailed list of WASC criteria, collect evidence, and submit a thorough self-study report before a second inspection team comes to visit. 

 

WASC နှင့် CIS ကျောင်းများသို့ လျှောက်ထားသောကျောင်းများသည် ဤအဖွဲ့အစည်းများမှချမှတ်ထားသော စံချိန်စံညွှန်းများနှင့်ကိုက်ညီရမည်။ အကယ်၍ သူတို့အောင်မြင်ပါက အသိအမှတ်ပြုခံရပါသည်။  လျှောက်လွှာတင်ပြီးနောက် အတွေ့အကြုံရှိသောပညာရှင်များနှင့်အုပ်ချုပ်သူများ (WASC သို့မဟုတ် CIS မှခန့်အပ်သည့်) ဖြင့်ဖွဲ့စည်းထားသော စစ်ဆေးရေးအဖွဲ့သည် ကျောင်းသို့လာရောက်ပြီးမူဘောင်ကို အခြေခံ၍ စစ်ဆေးမှုကိုပြုလုပ်ပါသည်။ အကယ်၍ စစ်ဆေးမှုအောင်မြင်လျှင်  ၎င်းတို့က ကျောင်းကို Candidacy status (WASC အကြောင်းအရာနှင့်ပတ်သက်ပြီး) ပေးအပ်ချီးမြှင့်ပါသည်။  ထို့ထက် ပို၍ ကြီးသော လုပ်ဆောင်ရမည့် တာဝန်သည် ကိုယ်တိုင်လေ့လာမှုအပြည့်နှင့် စတင်ပြီး ၊၎င်းသည် ကြာချိန်၃နှစ်အထိ ရှိနိုင်ပါသည်။ WASC စံသတ်မှတ်ချက်အသေးစိတ်စာရင်းပေါ် အခြေခံ၍ ကျောင်းသည် ၎င်းပြုလုပ်သမျှကိုအနီးကပ်ကြည့်ရှုရန်၊ သက်သေအထောက်အထားများစုဆောင်းရန်နှင့် ဒုတိယစစ်ဆေးရေးအဖွဲ့မလာမီ အသေးစိတ်လေ့လာမှုကို ကိုယ်တိုင်တင်ပြရမည်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။

 

This second team reviews all the evidence meets with teachers, parents, students, and staff, and then takes a few months to review all they have seen before the WASC Central Committee makes a decision; 5 years, 3 years, or ‘let’s do some more work before you try again’. Every report has commendations (You did well in…) and Recommendations (You need to work on….). Once a school is accredited a re-authorization has to be done every 5 years, so the process of self-study and improvement never stops. 

 

ဤဒုတိယအဖွဲ့သည် ဆရာများ၊ မိဘများ၊ ကျောင်းသားများ၊ ဝန်ထမ်းများနှင့်တွေ့ဆုံကာ အထောက်အထားများအားလုံးကိုပြန်လည်သုံးသပ်ပြီး၊  WASC ဗဟိုကော်မတီမှ  ၅ နှစ်, ၃ နှစ်, သို့မဟုတ် ” သင်ထပ်မံမကြိုးစားမီ အချို့သောအလုပ်များ ပိုလုပ်ကြစို့ ” ဟူသည့်  ဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်မချခင်အထိ ၎င်းတို့မြင်တွေ့ခဲ့သမျှအားလုံးကိုပြန်လည်သုံးသပ်ရန် လအနည်းငယ်အချိန်ယူပါသည်။  အစီရင်ခံစာတိုင်းတွင် ချီးမွမ်းချက်များ (သင်ကောင်းမွန်စွာလုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်ခဲ့သည်) နှင့်အကြံပြုချက်များ (သင်လုပ်ဆောင်ရန်လိုအပ်သည်) ရှိပါသည်။  ကျောင်းတစ်ကျောင်းကို တစ်ကြိမ်အသိအမှတ်ပြုပြီးသည်နှင့်တစ်ပြိုင်နက် ၅ နှစ်လျှင်တစ်ကြိမ် ပြန်လည်အတည်ပြုခြင်းအား ပြုလုပ်ရသည် ဖြစ်သည့်အတွက် ကိုယ်တိုင်လေ့လာမှုလုပ်ငန်းစဉ်နှင့် တိုးတက်မှုတွေသည် ဘယ်တော့မှ ရပ်တန့်သွားမည်မဟုတ်ပါ။

 

The accreditation ensures that our students are welcomed at colleges and universities worldwide and that we as a school constantly grow and improve. 

 

အသိအမှတ်ပြုခြင်းဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ကျောင်းသားများကို ကမ္ဘာတဝှမ်းရှိကောလိပ်များနှင့်တက္ကသိုလ်များက ကြိုဆိုလက်ခံခြင်းကို သေချာစေပြီး၊ ကျောင်းတစ်ကျောင်းအနေဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည်လည်း အစဉ်မပြတ် တိုးတက်ကြီးထွားလာစေပါသည်။
